South Yunnan. Rainy season. Permanent drizzle and rain. Thick, grey, mist hanging in the tropical air. The hillsides seem like they are slowing falling apart, exposed to the elements. Piles of rocks and deep red earth splayed across the road. We witness mini landslides and some generally small rock falls, causing us to drive an occasional slalom course. Continue reading

Cooked in Cambodia
The heat is all-embracing. It’s sweltering. It melts you; literally sucks the life juices out of you. April is apparently the killer month for dense heat, in May it remains a sticky 38°C to 40°C and over and often feels hotter. Heat evasion becomes a major preoccupation.

Slowing down and flying high
New country, new views. After the barren, imposing mountains of Tibet we are immediately submerged into lush, green, deep gorges with the temperature rising every metre we drop. Steep hillside after hillside of terraces for farming with suspension bridges hanging like threads over the rushing rivers deep down below. Indian skins, brightly coloured sarees, spicy curries.
